Covered Vans

C.V. Covered Van

CV covered van

This model of the NSWGR Covered Van (coded CV) is based on the Covered Vans that were constructred during 1948 to 1953. The body was of timber construction and was externally braced. The vans were built onto the standard 18′ long, 10′ wheelbase steel “S” truck underframe and were fitted with automatic couplers.

Covered Vans were used to transport goods that required shelter during transport hence the name “Covered Van”.
All but 3 CV’s were withdrawn from service by 1983.
From 1963 to 1966 50 CV’s were converted to ABV’s (Arnotts Biscuits Van’s) began and they were used by Arnotts Biscuits to transport their product from the factory at North Strathfield to country towns around NSW and beyond

The Body for this model is constructed from fibreglass and resin, the kit includes all the detail required to complete a detailed model of a NSWGR Covered Van. The body kit includes two sides and two ends, enough to complete ONE wagon. The kit comes as a “flat pack” and requires glueing together.
The builder will need to fit a timber floor and construct a roof (not included in kit).

This body can be built into an Arnotts Biscuits Van (ABV) if the modeller desires with the addition of extra body detail.
